The Canon Service Tool v3600 is designed to reset this waste ink counter. This should be done you have physically cleaned or replaced the waste ink pads. Resetting the counter without addressing the physical pads is a temporary fix and will likely lead to a future overflow.
Many users have reported that the v3600 tool does not work with the PGI-x25/CLI-x26 cartridge generation and newer printers. For newer models, you require a later version of the Service Tool, such as v3400, v4720, or v5xxx.
Like many inkjet printers, Canon Pixma models use a system of absorbent pads to collect waste ink from printhead cleaning cycles. These pads have a finite capacity. The printer's internal counter tracks usage and eventually triggers an error, typically or P07 , locking the printer to prevent ink overflow, which could cause permanent damage.
